Fedhealth Medical Aid
Fedhealth is a 100% dedicated medical aid. It focuses on this as it`s
sole core business, aiming to provide real value for money for all its members.
It offers a wide range of health coverage options, including unlimited hospital
cover and complete and comprehensive cover for all kinds of medical
eventualities. The company emerged from the Reef Medical Aid scheme, and now
focuses exclusively on medical aid provision, having moved the administration
functions off to a separate company.
Fedhealth offers two broad categories of medical aid: Maxima and
Ultima. There are 4 types of Maxima cover - in ascending order of value they are
Maxima Core, Maxima Basis, Maxima Standard and Maxima Plus. They all include
unlimited in-hospital cover, oncology and organ transplants, chronic condition
cover and day-to-day medical expenses (known as Safety Net). The contributions
vary, as do the limits, but they all offer generous medical aid cover. The
Ultima range has 3 levels - Ultima 200, Ultima 300 and Ultimax. This is a higher
end range of medical aid cover, with more chronic conditions and higher costs
covered.
There are also some unique benefits that separate it from many other medical
schemes. It has introduced special rates for dependents of members up to the age
of 27, creating great savings for members. It also treats specialised procedures
such as MRI scans as part of in-hospital cover, so you won`t find yourself
shelling out from your medical savings for these procedures, even if you`re not
hospitalised for them. The same goes for after-hospital care - follow-up
treatment after hospitalisation is considered to be covered by in-hospital
cover, which is another very valuable benefit - there are few, if any, other
medical aids that do this. In addition, there are some 60 odd procedures that a
doctor can perform in a consulting room that will also be paid as in-hospital
benefits. This is the type of approach that is setting Fedhealth apart from its
competitors when it comes to adding real value for clients.
