Genesis offers a hospital plan, which includes major illness cover, a chronic illness cover, as well as out of hospital expense cover. There are 3 levels of cover, all of which are simple to understand, allowing prospective members to quickly assess the package that is right for them. The first of these is the Private package which covers a wide range of medical eventualities. There is unlimited in-hospital cover: ward fees, general practitioner and specialists, x-rays/MRI scans/pathology services, physiotherapy and biokinesis, internal medical and surgical appliance use, blood transfusions, psychiatry, maxillo-facial surgery, surgical procedures in consulting rooms, private nursing and pre-hospital emergency care. Then there`s major illness cover, and chronic illness cover.

The Private Plus package includes all of the above, as well as dental surgery, elective procedures, cosmetic and augmentation surgery and treatment for impotency. You also get an out-of-hospital savings facility to cover 100% of general practitioners and specialist consultations, plus a range of other expenses, including prescription medication, speech therapy, x-rays, dieticians, psychologists, homeopathy, social workers, optometry, alternative treatments and dentistry.

The Private Comprehensive package covers all of the above, with the addition of 4 free consultations with a GP or specialist before you have to use your medical savings, and prescription medication cover up to R1200 before you have to fund it this yourself from your savings.
