Insurance Group Creates Job Ops in Bloem
August 13 - In a bid to bring job opportunities to remote areas in South Africa, and at the same time tap into the Afrikaans insurance market, MiWay insurance announced that it would be opening a contact center in Bloemfontein.
Speaking about the decision to enter Bloem, the Chief Executive Officer of Miway, Rene Otto said: "When we looked at the next location to grow our business, it was obvious that a real opportunity was presented in central South Africa."
He said that rather than growing to the company's existing offices in Gauteng, the group was ready to try something new and grown elsewhere in the country.
"We're tapping into the often underestimated talent and skills of people living in the Free State; they don't need to 'semigrate' to Gauteng to enjoy these opportunities," said Otto.
Another reason why this move made sense was because MiWay wants to service Afrikaans speakers with its products.
"This contact center will specialize in the Afrikaans market, servicing these clients in a language most comfortable for them - again, supporting our promise at MiWay to do things our customer's way," said the CEO.
At the moment, the contact center has plans to offer Bloemfontein residents and those from the surrounding areas at least 60 new jobs, although there are definite plans to increase this number as the contact center expands.
"Plans are definitely in the works to expand this office as the business develops," he confirmed.
Training will be provided for those who meet the minimum criteria, which is matric completion or some type of tertiary studies in the business and computer worlds.
