Natsure is a South African insurance company that specialises in structure insurance within the construction and property industries, and is the largest insurer of this type in the country. Originally a niche short term insurer, formed in 1968, it used to cater solely to home owners. It has since evolved into providing insurance for the property market in general, from individual home owners to large commercial property concerns. The company not only insures completed properties, but also provides risk cover during all phases of property development and construction.

Natsure covers the full gamut of the construction and property sectors, from general insurance to detailed niche insurance like thatch and geyser insurance. It serves all areas of these sectors, covering a diverse range of structures within the hospitality industry, education sector, tourism industry, cluster homes and other structures that pertain to specific lifestyles. It also offers insurance to landlords and owners of sectional titles as specifically tailored products.

Given the size and scope of some of its insurance undertakings Natsure makes extensive use of reinsurance services to share the risk and to make certain that it is not over-extending itself. Due to this strategy, its solvency level is well above the regulatory limit, giving it stability and allowing its clients a good level of confidence and security.

Natsure has put into place a growth strategy to match the predicted growth of the property industry, through growing its network of underwriting management agencies and its co-operation with them. It also plans to identify and create new ones in other niche insurance areas, and to expand into the rest of Africa.
