U-Insure Insurance
Unitrans, also known as U-Insure, operates exclusively in the areas of
new and used vehicle warranties, credit protection and top-up (or extra cover)
insurance. It is wholly owned by the Unitrans Group, a JSE Security Exchange
Listed entity. It is an authorised financial services provider and is also a
member of the de rigueur South African insurance body, the South African
Insurance Association.
U-Insure concentrates on specific niche insurance needs,
preferring to do this than to over any sort of standard all-encompassing
insurance packages to the consumer market. The first of these areas that it
provides products in is the field of autocare warranties. The primary product
here is their mechanical breakdown insurance for new and used vehicles. It
covers major mechanical component breakdown, excluding wear and tear. In
addition to this you also get an AA Fleetcare extension automatically as a
policy holder, and you can enhance your cover with Top-Up or Double Up options.
Credit protection is provided in the form of a comprehensive plan that covers
death, disability or illness, retrenchment, and dread disease. This is a
standard credit protection plan, which will pay your monthly credit premiums for
varying periods depending on your circumstances - for the duration of your
illness, or for the first six months of unemployment.
The ExtraCover vehicle top-up plan provides additional insurance cover for
your vehicle in the case of it being stolen or written off. This is to protect
you from liability when you are still paying off your vehicle. Given that you
are often not likely to receive the full value of your car when it is stolen or
written off and it is still on a hire purchase agreement, this plan ensures that
you will be paid out sufficient money to pay off your credit agreement.
